On Monday, September 9, the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension project team, led by Radmacher Brothers Excavating (RBE), temporarily closed the Grand Boulevard Bridge from 2nd Street to Front Street.

The bridge reopened to vehicular traffic at the end of the day on Friday, November 1. While track will be built on the bridge in spring 2025, there are many noticeable changes on the bridge!

During the bridge closure, the following activities were completed:

Additionally, crews completed work in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility during the scheduled KC Streetcar outage, did miscellaneous clean up work in the riverfront, delivered and set the Traction Power Substation, and miscellaneous electrical work.

Some changes are evident on the bridge, especially a new median on the north end and track to the bridge deck from the riverfront. Because of this, for their safety, cyclists and pedestrians should continue using the Town of Kansas Bridge to access Berkley Riverfront.

The KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension team will close the bridge again in spring 2025 to build track on the bridge. More information about timing and duration will be made available early next year. Thank you for your patience during this work!
