Radmacher Brothers Excavating (RBE) leads the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension construction team, which includes an RS Electric/WITEC joint venture, Delta Rail, Wilson & Company, PM Dynamics, Boundary & Construction Surveying, IBC, Grey Diamond, Realm Construction, Hayes Drilling, Welch Erosion Control, and Parson + Associates.

RBE has worked on a variety of projects in Kansas City including 435 South Loop Link Design-Build, North Oak Trafficway Design-Build, Prospect Bridge over I-70, 435 Bridge over 87th Street, but this is their first streetcar construction project. However, they aren’t strangers to the downtown KC Streetcar as they helped build station stops on the starter line. RBE specializes in rail infrastructure; from platform construction to producing train bridges, the company has experience in numerous components. The improvements and upkeep of rail infrastructure are vital for smooth and safe transportation, making RBE’s experience in this area vital to this project.

The RBE Riverfront Extension team is led by Vice President Ed Andres, Project Manager for the extension. Ed has been instrumental in RBE’s growth and expansion for the past 25 years. While his primary career focus has been estimating and managing civil construction projects, he’s gained recognition for his ability to employ value engineering ideas to ensure a successful project. As the Project Manager, Ed handles general project oversight, billing and financing related to the project, and coordinates with the subcontractor and project partners. When Ed isn’t working, you can catch him driving his Harley, biking on one of the many trails RBE has constructed in the KC metro and playing a round of golf!

Kris Flath is the team’s Project Engineer. After seven years with RBE, he coordinates the schedule and helps with submittals for the extension. Though his duties primarily keep him in the office, Kris still enjoys getting his hands dirty and you can find him helping crews with different on-site tasks as needed. A fun fact about Kris is he was born in England!

Landon Cleveland is the General Superintendent for the project. Going on 18 years with RBE, he has experience working on a variety of projects. Landon’s role on this project is essential as he coordinates with the crews on the project site, helps with planning and scheduling, and solves any problems or issues that arise during the work. Even though he agreed to the interview under protest, Landon proved to be a charismatic spokesman for the Riverfront Extension in a recent interview with Channel 41 News. Thanks, Landon, for being the media face of the Riverfront Extension construction team!

Vincent Khor is the team’s Assistant Project Manager for the extension. Vincent worked as an RBE intern for the last two summers as he attended Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. Now, Vincent is primarily in charge of document control, as well as submittals and RFIs (Request for Information). Vincent enjoys snowboarding and makes his own car wraps. Vincent is now a resident of the Berkley Riverfront area and watches the construction progress from his apartment!

Rachel Radmacher has officially worked for RBE for three years, but you could say she’s been part of the company her whole life! Rachel is the Project Coordinator, handling everything from coordinating meetings and schedules to project logistics. Rachel keeps a finger on the pulse of all aspects of the project and relays progress to the rest of RBE. She is essential to the project, keeping everyone organized and on task. A fun fact about Rachel is that she has bungee jumped, skydived, AND scuba dived! If you ask her, the least scary activity of the three was when she went skydiving.

These five are only a few of the many RBE team members working to build the Riverfront Extension. RBE is incredibly proud of the team, with 10 of the 12 subcontractors being local to KC. To date, 83 team members have been trained to work on the project site, with nearly 100 people being staffed by the project team. Follow along as we share blogs about each of the contractors that make up the Riverfront Extension team!
